Gogol Bordello will be bringing their multiethnic, bizarre, over-the-top, Gypsy theatrics to Royal Oak on June 2nd. Tickets go on sale tomorrow but we’ve snagged a couple of freebies from a new intern they have working over at the Royal Oak Music Theatre. We weren’t kidding. Look at that dude. A perfect blend of Max Fischer and Gin from the Hard Lessons. Either way, if you aren’t familiar with Demetri Martin, welcome to the new funny. A former staff writer for “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and featured player on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” he is currently hosting his own show on Comedy Central entitled Important Things with Demetri Martin. He is known for being an unconventional stand-up comic. He uses extensive wordplay, dry one-liners, drawings on a “LARGEPAD”, as well as accompanying his jokes with music on either guitar, harmonica, piano, keyboard, glockenspiel, toy bells, or tambourine – sometimes all at once. We’re particularly fond of his Webby-nominated series Clearification in which Demetri enters a Dharma-like program to figure out his life. The first episode is totally worth a watch:
