Live Show: Child Bite CD Release Show @ the Pike Room, Pontiac, MI - 4/12/08
It wasn’t a show, it was an event. Hundreds of giant, yellow foam-hands, and fearless friends dressed up as banana-hatted mermaids, cow-headed drummers, and serpent-handed freaks were just some of the carnival-esque images we saw at Child Bite’s much-hyped CD release show. It was like an MC Escher painting turned into a candy-coated nightmare, but instead of flying toasters, we got hit with the white-hot shrapnel of Child Bite’s patented new-wave skronk. Pulling mostly from their new Fantastic Gusts of Blood, the Bite clenched down hard on our limbs, wrangling us about with the ferocity of a starved shark. Just as we started to see the white light (or in this case, dark green), the “deep egg” appeared, lulling us to the floor like a kindergarten class prepping for a nap. With a swift “POP!”, the egg burst, and the lights went out. Show over. A dramatic ending to a dynamic experience.
