Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips began working together at the tail end of Luna’s existence, then transitioned into a duo-style, World’s Coolest Couple solo career with the 2003’s delectable L’Avventura, a record cooler than most fashion magazines could ever aspire to be. They’ve been here and there since — they collaborated with Noah Baumbach on the soundtrack to his 2005 film The Squid and the Whale, for example — and have just finished their most recent tour. This means Britta will likely be restarting the couple’s Netflix queue, which — as she explains below in this profile — they canceled while they were out rocking. — Thomas Rooker White

Favorite music venue/city…

BRITTA: The Filmore in SF
DEAN: The Bowery Ballroom in NYC

Vegetarian, vegan or carnivore…

BRITTA: We are both carnivores. I was a vegetarian for 10 years
before an acupuncturist told me I should eat meat once a month.

Most rented movie as a child…

BRITTA: We didn’t rent movies as children. But I once sat in the theater and watching Snoopy Come Home three times in a row.

Record that changed your life…

BRITTA: All the good ones change your life in some way, but I’ll say
The Velvet Underground and Nico.

Best band from your city (besides yourself)…

BRITTA: I love LCD Soundsystem, but I’d have to say the best band from NYC was Television.

CMJ or SXSW?

BRITTA: We saw the Brunettes at CMJ. They were great. I’d go to SXSW if Daft Punk was playing, though.

Movies in your Netflix que…

BRITTA: We’re on tour so I just canceled our Netflix. I’m planning on starting it up again when we get home, though. I want to see Funny Games.

Weirdest MySpace comment or message…

BRITTA: “Vote for Mayor McCheese”?

Favorite place for new threads…

BRITTA: I don’t have time.
