“Fuck Authority,” “Suck My Ass it Smells,” “I Kill Everything I Fuck,” and “I Want to Kill You” – that GG Allin was a ray of sunshine, wasn’t he? As this sampling of his song titles suggests, the infamous gutter rocker, “performance artist,” and professional scum sucker was a black hole of hate in the world. And apparently he liked it that way. Depravity was his business, and business was good until he died of a drug overdose in New York City on June 28, 1993.
And Todd Phillips got it all on tape.
Wait, Todd Phillips? The writer and director of such madcap, harmless fun films as Road Trip, Old School, and Starsky & Hutch? One in the same. Hated, the Allin documentary Phillips filmed while a student at NYU, will be reissued through MVD Visual Aug. 7, complete with bonus material including interviews with GG affiliates, an interview with GG’s mom, three music videos, commentary from Phillips, and GG temporary tattoos. The press release doesn’t mention inclusion of shit-smelling Shrinky Dinks, but you never know.
