Sometimes a band is just so pro, so calculated, so put together that we just want to shit in their mouths (we’re looking at you Fountains of Wayne). In the case of Cincinnati’s Bad Veins, we find their super-slick cinematic pop quite refreshing, adding a bit of class to the festival’s oeuvre. Plus, the Flaming Lips were too expensive. Bad Veins’ Sebastien Schultz was cool enough to give very extensive answers to our little questionnaire. He even spelled checked it! — Ryan Allen

Bad Veins play Rock City, Friday, June 13, at 10:15 pm in the Majestic Theatre.

Worst fanboy/fangirl experience…
Officially, we appreciate everyone who comes out to shows and supports us, etc. Unofficially, it involved a more than slightly drunk girl trying to get to me through my mother. That’s weird.

Favorite music venue/city…
I’m going to have to go with what I know best…the Southgate House in Newport, Kentucky. It’s an old mansion that was owned my mobsters back in the day…you can imagine the ambiance.

Vegetarian, vegan or carnivore…
I’m so carnivorous it’s ridiculous. You name it — if it’s an animal, I’ll eat it (except if it’s from the ocean or any other body of water). Even endangered species.

Record that changed your life…
The Joshua Tree by U2. My dad bought if for me when I was a kid and I just listened to it over and over again. It was probably my first record that was a cohesive “album.” It wasn’t just songs thrown together…it builds on itself. That record made me want to play music and be in bands. It was the first time I was struck with idea that music could legitimately affect people and change them to some degree. And for Christ’s sake, the album opener is “Where the Streets Have No Name.”

Bands you are digging right now…
Umm…well, the new Sigur Ros is pretty amazing. Other than that, I’ve been listening to M83, Bad Religion, Guided by Voices, and the other day I put on Black Heart Procession.

Movies in your Netflix queue…
I don’t have Netflix, but if I did I would probably fill it with requests for the entire James Bond catalogue…starting with Dr. No, of course.

TV shows you can’t stop watching…
Ben and I are pretty obsessed with “Lost.” He even goes so far as to listen to hours upon hours of podcasts after each episode. Unfortunately, the season finale was a couple of weeks ago and it won’t be coming back until next year!!! So, we’ll have to divert our attention elsewhere. I used to be really into “24,” but where the hell has that show been? “Californication” was a show on Showtime that I was also obsessed with last summer as well.

I am anal/OCD about this…
Making sure all the bills in my wallet face the same direction and are right side up. I just like things to be orderly. Of course, I never have cash anymore (so 1990s), so I feel as though I’m over that particular disorder.

First car…
A 1994 Honda Accord EX. She was a beauty.

Guiltiest Pleasure – thing you watch, read, listen to – that no one knows about… (ie. The Gilmore Girls, InTouch Magazine, N’Sync, etc.)
I don’t know if I would consider “Gossip Girl” a guilty pleasure because it’s badass, but I do keep up with it. Also, Love Actually may be the best movie ever made. Seriously, watch it this Christmas…it’s amazing. That has to be one of the most honest answers you guys have gotten.
