Done Waiting has the comfortable feel of a group of friends chatting about records they dig, links they like, SXSW, and the scene in the site’s home base of Columbus, Ohio. There’s a message board, an in-house record label, and they were all over MTV editing the goddamn gunshots out of MIA’s “Paper Planes” video. How does it all go down? DW creator Robert Duffy breaks it all down. — Thomas Rooker White
Where are you based in real life?
Columbus, OH. Capital city of Ohio, 15th Largest City in the USA, Home of Times New Viking, Blueprint, Tim Easton, RjD2, Wendy’s and OAR.
How did the site get its start?
I lost a bet.
Its name?
I had this foolish and idealistic idea that I was going to create the most amazing music site on the Internet. I was “done waiting” for a site like it to exist. Get it? Five years later, I still regret the name choice, but what can you do. Some people like it.
Does the nature of what you do make you hate the phone/human contact?
If you’re not on my buddy list, you might as well be dead.
