Detour is proud to announce the dates for the 2008 Rock City Music Festival. The three-day event will be held June 12-14, 2008 at the Majestic Theatre, Magic Stick, and Garden Bowl, three venues within the historic Majestic Theater Centre that each offer fans a unique perspective on live music. The full Rock City lineup will feature 50 acts drawn from both national and local circles, with each artist reflecting a tenet of contemporary independent music as Detour sees it.

Rock City will access the heated creativity of the bands who thrive in Detroit’s loft and underground party scene, as well as those who grace the stages of traditional rock clubs each week. But the event will also bring a throng of exciting national acts to town, artists whose own cravings for rock-n-roll redefinition, genre mashups, or just good old-fashioned weirdness have been championed by Detour over the Web site’s first year of publishing. Rock City will not only reflect what the Detour crew loves about local music, but also how the magazine sees Detroit’s scene meshing with the music and media world at large. The Internet makes everything closer. Rock City will make everything louder.
