Ami Onuki and Yumi Yoshimura are cute human Klaxons (the electromechanical horn, not the band), hot futuristic cell phones set to “Loud” all the time; the anitdote to an ice storm, being broke, having cold bones, or getting pissed about the Guv and stuff. “Oriental Diamond,” the latest single from their upcoming record Honeycreeper, is Ami and Yumi in their pink neon grin element, the song’s instrumentation going manic as they just stroll through it all, two girls in panda hats taking on karate dudes and giving kisses to the camera. Try to deny it. You can’t. And if you want Puffy AmiYumi as your clock radio wakeup, you can probably buy one in Harajuku. — Johnny Loftus
